Finally a "normal" two page spread! It was a bit of a crazy week, with Clara and I getting used to being at home after two weeks away and getting Alex ready for his trip to Haiti. The kids also both wanted to do regular stuff, like host sleepovers and have friends over. It was a really good week though. We ended up getting everything done and got Alex off to Haiti (even if we did end up at Target at around 10pm the night before he left so we could round up the last of the stuff he needed!).
We had a great day on the 4th! It was a little chilly for a full out beach day, so we went to a beach that we knew of that was good for petoskey stone hunting. We all (except Jeff) were able to find petoskey stones, with Clara finding the largest one again. After that we went home for a bit and then headed out to Frankfort. The kids went to the carnival while Jeff and I staked out our spot on the beach. Then we enjoyed the fireworks! It's so beautiful to see them reflected in the water.
The third part of week 27 is my spread about the 3rd of July. Crystal Mountain has their celebration on the 3rd each year as to not compete with the celebrations in the surrounding towns that happen on the 4th. The kids could not wait for the carnival to start! They had a blast! This was Alex's first year to go, as he is usually at camp during this time. This has definitely been a different summer for us with neither kid going to camp.... but it's been a really good one so far!
On the day before we left... I finally found the perfect bag for our supplies!
It's a cosmetics bag from Wal-Mart and it was $14.99.
Here's what it looks like opened up...
Everything we need for a couple weeks of journaling/smashbooking on the road!
The top compartment has our washi tape...
The middle one has scissors, hole punch, glue and extra journal card stickers.
The bottom one is stuffed full of stickers, journal cards and smash pads...
You may notice that there are no pens or markers. I didn't take a pic but all of our pens and a stack of journal card stickers are in a small pencil bag that we keep with us in the car. Our plan is that we can grab that when we stop to eat and fill out some cards if there's anything we want to get written down right away. Plus there's a smash pad with games in there too to keep everyone entertained if there's a wait.
