Project Life 2014: Week 6

Another week with not a lot of photos to work with.  Thank goodness for the internet!  Specifically the facebook pages of different companies/organizations/events.  Facebook pages seem to have the best graphics for project life!  They seem to usually be sized to fit a phone screen (which is perfect for the 3x4 slots) or are square "instagram" sized.  I pulled the Super Bowl graphic from the Seattle Seahawks' fb page (which wasn't the right size for a 3x4 or a 4x4 spot, but I made it work) and the Olympics one from the NBC Olympics page.

This week also includes the second pic in the series I'm attempting of taking a photo of the kids in the same spot every month for a year.  I'm shooting for the first Sunday of every month.  I didn't look at last month's pic before we went out, so they're a little off from the original location and they switched sides, but it still works, right?

I used stuff from a lot of different places this week (links on pinterest)...

Project Life 2014: January Misc.

Last year, after I was done with my weekly spread, I would notice that I would have some photos (usually from my phone) that either didn't fit on my pages or I forgot about entirely until after I was done.  Since PL is about documenting the everyday, it bothered me to abandon those photos.  Then, as I was looking at ideas to switch things up this year, I came across this blog post by Persnickety Prints.  It was about making a separate spread at the end of the month with all of those random, leftover photos.  I pinned it and planned to try it out.  Since I was done with my January weekly pages, I decided to see if I had enough leftovers to pull off this idea.  I didn't have a ton, but with some fun filler, I really like how the pages turned out.  And I really like being able to make sure the "randoms" end up documented!

This has also made me think about how I'm handling weeks that are split between months.  I want this to fall after the last spread of each month.  This month it worked out since I split Saturday (2/1) off because I'll have enough photos to make it its own spread.  That one will follow these pages, so February starts new after January is completely wrapped up.  I think I'm going to attempt that from now on, I just need to be aware and make sure I have the pictures to pull it off.  Amy Martin's All the Weeks calendar cards are perfect for this too... she splits those weeks as well.   Meaning, that for week 5 there are two cards.  One week five with the January calendar and dates highlighted and one with the February calendar and dates highlighted.  My books have potential to be much larger this year, but I'm totally okay with that.  I'll print quarterly if I need to... I just want to make sure I get it all documented and I really love making my pages!

Project Life 2013: Book 2

I got some questions on Instagram regarding my book 2 that I just received yesterday and decided that they were easier to answer here.

First up is the cover...
I used the exact same cover as book 1, just switched out the photos and changed the weeks portion.

And here are some inside shots...

Included this page because it is very phone photo heavy...
 ... they printed really well.

This one I included because it has a lot of screen captures...
... they also printed really well.

And finally, a shot to show how thick the books are...
I need to check, but book 1 had around 55 pages and book 2 had around 65.

The only thing I don't like is evident in the photo above.  On book 1, I forgot the year on the spine.  On book 2, I remembered to add it, but my wording on the spine doesn't line up between the two books.  I'm trying to let that one go.

Alex and I just sat down and went through book 2.  He really enjoyed going through it and so did I!!  I love project life!!

Project Life 2014: Week 5

January is done!  I ended week 5 a day early... 1) to keep the week all in January (not the main reason, but a reason nonetheless) and 2) because Saturday was Clara's first big dance competition and I won't have the photos to scrap with for a couple of weeks.  When they're in, I'll make a separate two page spread and add it behind this one.

Below is what I used... links on my pinterest board....
