Easter Sunday

This weekend, Clara and I were on our own. The boys were in Indianapolis for the NCAA Men's Basketball Final Four (more on that in another post). So, this meant we were on our own for Easter.

I'm amazed I managed to get us both up and around on time (Jeff's usually in charge of keeping us moving in the morning)... but we actually made it to Easter Sunrise Service on the beach....
(please excuse the slightly out of focus photo.... it was a quick snap as service started)

I love this service! It is such a peaceful way to start out Easter Sunday. It's also amazing to watch the sunrise. Clara loves this service too because a lot of people bring their dogs. We usually hang out on the outer fringe so she can hang out with the dogs who are usually in the back.

Here is Clara in her new Easter outfit....

Yeah... she refused to take off her coat so you could actually see it. :-)

Going to sunrise service changes the way we shop for an Easter dress. When we used to go to a more traditional, indoor service, I would shop for a frilly dress with cute little ruffly anklet socks and dressy shoes. Now, we shop for something that will look cute with leggings and possibly a long sleeved t-shirt underneath since even with as nice as it was on Sunday morning, it still gets chilly out there after a while and also, Clara likes to sit and dig in the sand.... so it can't be something that can't get dirty.

I took one last shot before we left the beach to go to breakfast...
After breakfast, we came home to see what the Easter Bunny had left in Clara's basket. Our Easter Bunny comes while we're at church, otherwise we would never make it out the door in time :-)

Clara got a box of Easter Dots, a new DS game and a Classics Movie Musicals DVD Collection (it had Easter Parade, Meet Me In St. Louis, Singing in the Rain and Band Wagon). She played her DS game a bit and then we settled in on the couch to watch Singing in the Rain together. She loved it! She's really gotten into musicals lately.

After a lazy afternoon, we got ready to go over to our friends' house. I brought some hard boiled eggs and dye sets so the kids could color Easter eggs...

One of the sets had hats for the eggs. Here is one of Clara's friend's eggs and two of Clara's...
They decided that the hats might be just the right size for Barbie dolls so they ran off with them to find out.

We had a fabulous dinner together and the girls played together for a bit longer before we needed to head out.

It was a really nice Easter (although, we did miss the boys just a bit) :-)

  1. I'm not a church-goer but a beachside Easter service sounds magical..

  2. Those are some cute eggs...the sunset pic is lovely, I find myself squinting when looking at it.
