On Alex's actual birthday, the kids and I took the day off and played tourist! :-)
We started out with lunch at Ed Debevic's...
and watched our waitress dance on the counter....Then, per Alex's request, we headed over to Navy Pier. Alex wasn't sure what he wanted to do once he got there, but he knew that was where he wanted to go.
We got there just as an architecture boat tour was getting ready to leave. We decided to hop on...
It was COLD and WINDY!!! We were severely under dressed. It was one of those days where the temp dropped all day. When I walked the dog that morning it was near 60, when we left for lunch it was in the lower 50's and by the time we left the restaurant, it was in the 40's... sigh.
On the plus side... we pretty much had the top deck of the boat to ourselves! :-)
The kids really got into the tour... even Clara (which surprised me!)...
After the tour we were thoroughly frozen, so we went into Navy Pier to hit the next place on Alex's list.... Amazing Chicago....
It's kind of a cheesy fun house maze thing with a Chicago theme but the kids LOVE it!
After this we took off for our last destination... the Lego Store. Alex had a $100 Lego Gift Card that was burning a hole in his wallet. He got some big creator set.
One of Alex's favorite presents was a stop action animation set (software and camera) from grandpa and grandma. That had been delivered while we were out. He opened it up and immediately started making stop action Lego videos. I have to get them off of his computer and over to mine so I can post them. They're a lot of fun!
Looks like a great day - apart from the cold :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Belated Birthday Alex. Sorry I'm just now playing catch up. Can't wait to see your creations from the gift card purchase.
