the brink of disaster

Well... not really, but Clara is teetering on the edge. She is sooooo tired that she is almost beyond reason... sigh.

Yesterday she had a huge day of swimming and playing on her playdate. The kids even played another hour and a half after I came to pick Clara up since the mom and I got to chatting.

Then, instead of getting a good night's rest in her own bed, she slept here...
We had agreed to let them sleep in their fort last night. But after Clara's friend's mom told us about the "camping" her daughter does under the table at her grandma's house, we thought that under the dining room table might be a better idea as it would give them more room.

So, here's what the underside of my dining room table looks like...
and Clara at the doorway of the fort...
With our house being upside down, so to speak, this put them right directly above our bedroom. So, we knew what was going on and I did have to go up once (just once) to ask them to settle down. They said that they slept pretty well in the fort... but I do know that it was near 11 before they asleep and we heard movement pretty darn early.

So, in order to max the girl out more... we headed to the beach this morning. I have some photos but they'll have to wait until another post. We spent three hours in the sand and sun. There was a good breeze blowing in so there were lots of waves... Clara spent the majority of her time out jumping into them. She loves it! Alex spent most of his time constructing some complicated water flow system in the sand.

After coming home and showering we took off for a walk to lunch and Blockbuster to get Alex's pick for family night. He picked a wii game, which should be fun if Clara doesn't completely meltdown before then (we've had multiple mini-meltdowns already). Wii night might get postponed until tomorrow night... we'll see.

Gotta run!

'nite!
