7 year portrait attempts

After our photo playdate yesterday, I got motivated to attempt Alex's 7 year portraits. Nothing fancy... just something to give to the grandparents. Alex is very cooperative when it comes to sitting still... however, he lacks in the facial expression category. It's very hard getting a natural smile from him. Clara is a different story... she laughs easily but is a blur of motion. So... as soon as we finished school today, Alex and I headed outside to try a few. I really, really struggle with outside shots. So here is the best I got (yes... he insisted on wearing his hood)... oh... even though it's obvious... I played with the colors a bit! LOL!


Then, later in the afternoon, I decided to return to my comfort zone and do a couple inside...

(just look at those crazy teeth!! LOL!)

I'm so excited! It looks like Saturday I'll be having breakfast with Jen Caputo and Shawna Clingerman!!! How fun is that?

Thank you for the suggestion of the sand/water table for our deck. Honestly, that's what I've been thinking... but my dh thinks they're too old for one. Which may be true in a different situation where we had a big yard (or any yard for that matter) but we don't and I think it's a fun, small space option for them. Do you think 7 and 5 is too old for a sand/water table given our situation? Any additional suggestions would be appreciated as well! Thanks!
