A WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 AM CST /10 AM EST/ WEDNESDAY.
VERY STRONG WINDS...DANGEROUSLY COLD WIND CHILLS AS LOW AS 30 BELOW ZERO... LOCALLY ONE TO THREE INCHES OF SNOW... AND REDUCED VISIBILITIES DUE TO BLOWING SNOW ARE LIKELY TONIGHT.
NORTHWEST WINDS WILL INCREASE TO 25 TO 35 MPH THIS EVENING...WITH SOME GUSTS OVER 40 MPH LIKELY. IN ADDITION TO THE STRONG WINDS...PERIODIC SNOW SHOWERS CAN BE EXPECTED THROUGH MID EVENING... WITH SNOW POSSIBLY FALLING RATHER HEAVILY AT TIMES. THE COMBINATION OF THE FALLING AND BLOWING SNOW WILL RESULT IN REDUCED VISIBILITIES AND COULD MAKE TRAVEL DIFFICULT.
From this picture you really can't tell just how hard the wind is blowing and how thick the snow is. It's not going to amount to much but it sure is blowing around a lot.... making it really hard to see out there. Thankfully Jeff's plane made it in okay this afternoon. It was delayed about three hours and the flight was rough... but he's home safe.
Oh... we're also supposed to drop 50 degrees today. Our high was 48 degrees F this afternoon and our low is forecast at -2 degrees. We're at 23 degrees right now... having dropped 25 degrees already. We're in for the night and have nowhere to go until 4:00 tomorrow afternoon thankfully. I honestly love a good storm of any kind... probably because most of what requires us to be out of the house is optional.
Other than this storm, our day was rather uneventful. Our groceries were delivered, we did school and watched some Mythbusters. It was a good day at the Radtke house.
This is the craziest winter storm. It started out no big deal, but now...my gosh, I'm pretty sure my kids would blow away out there. Thankfully we don't have to be out in it either!
ReplyDeletewow we both have storms, but they couldn't be more different! except maybe the winds... Stay warm you guys, Alex Tom has made a helicopter and I will post it tomorrow (GMT+12) sometime...
ReplyDeleteWe had the same thing down here...weird wasn't it? We were fortunate to have a warmer version of it though. We dropped from around 65 to 20 ish. Wind was bad too, we had a tornado warning issued. Very different for January!
